Our team of over 500 professionals deliver services over the full lifespan of projects – from bid to handover – from our offices across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Asia Pacific and the Americas.

The COVID-19 pandemic and the restriction on travel globally has presented challenges with gaining access to certain regions. However, our services are expected to be in high demand from 2021 and therefore we are proactively recruiting accordingly. The vacancy listed is therefore subject to the candidate being able to obtain a visa and enter the country. This does not apply if you are based locally.

Role

Systech have several exciting opportunities available to Commercial Managers who are interested in relocating to Australia. The role will be based in either our Sydney or Melbourne offices with regional travel occasionally required.

As a Commercial Manager you will provide leadership to the commercial team, establishing commercial processes and procedures alongside major main contractors.

You will have a proven ability to lead and mentor a team, implementing new procedures and strategies alongside a history in a commercial management position with UK main contractor.

This is a consultancy role and you must therefore be able to demonstrate an ability to work effectively in a client facing environment.

Responsibilities

• To lead teams on major construction projects
• Take responsibility for a project’s commercial performance
• Develop commercial strategies and lead on contractual negotiations
• To ensure projects are delivered in accordance with the contract
• Responsibility for management account preparation and liaison with senior management
• Extensive knowledge of main standard forms of contract including NEC and JCT
• Procurement experience on large value contracts
• Experience of claims preparation and dispute avoidance/resolution.
• Can assist in business development

Individual

• BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying (or similar, a 2:1 or higher preferred)
• A Member of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (preferred)
• Strong oral/written communication and presentation skills; An excellent organiser with proven time management skills
• Presentable and articulate
• Have contractor experience working in UK construction
• Ideally have at least 10 years relevant experience working on infrastructure or building projects
• Exceptional negotiation and team management skills
• An interest in claims and disputes with experience preferred
• Have a good understanding of the majority of Australian Standard forms of contract (Providing examples of work)
• Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident, Australian Visa or UK passport holders preferred (Preferable for foreign worker visa requirements)
• Excellent IT skills
